Annotation: [Not seen] This report describes the proceedings of a one-day training seminar in the assessment of writing, held in Boulder, CO, June 13, 1980, with more than ninety specialists attending. The collection includes presentations on alternative methods of writing assessment, namely "holistic, analytical, and primary trait scoring." There were small hands-on sessions, and three large-session talks, including one by Rexford Brown entitled "New frontiers in writing assessment." One session, using NAEP materials, explored "the application of generalizability theory to the reliability of writing sample ratings."[From ERIC abstract and Lutz, in Greenberg, Wiener, & Donovan, 1986.
