WAC Clearinghouse Seeks Associate Publishers and Director of Marketing

The WAC Clearinghouse seeks four new members of its editorial staff. The individuals in these positions will play key leadership roles in the Clearinghouse and will serve, in addition, on the Clearinghouse editorial board. The positions are described below. Associate Publisher for Writing and Teaching Resources

The associate publisher for writing and teaching resources is responsible for developing and enhancing the instructional and professional resources available through the WAC Clearinghouse resources section. The associate publisher works with individual section editors, updates material on the site, and works to expand the resources available through the site. The associate publishers will work closely with members of the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum to coordinate the development of new resources and to publicize the availability of those resources to the larger WAC community. The associate publisher will serve as a member of the operational leadership team within the WAC Clearinghouse. The associate publisher will also serve as a member of the Clearinghouse Editorial Board.

Like all other positions with the WAC Clearinghouse, this position is voluntary and unpaid. The expected term is three years and may be renewed.

Associate Publisher for Monographs, Collections, and Conference Proceedings

The associate publisher for monographs, collections, and conference proceedings supports the publication by the WAC Clearinghouse of scholarly monographs and collections as well as conference proceedings. The associate publisher works with the publisher and series editors to ensure that Clearinghouse publications meet the highest standards of scholarship, design, and accessibility. The associate publisher will contribute to the development of publishing policies and practices that increase the quality and effectiveness of Clearinghouse books and conference proceedings, contribute to the development of new books and conference proceedings, and work with the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Advancement to increase awareness of new and existing publications. The associate publisher will serve as a member of the operational leadership team within the WAC Clearinghouse. The associate publisher will also serve as a member of the Clearinghouse Editorial Board.

Associate Publisher for Scholarly Journals

The associate publisher for scholarly journals supports the publication by the WAC Clearinghouse of scholarly journals. The associate publisher works with the publisher and journal editors to ensure that Clearinghouse publications meet the highest standards of scholarship, design, and accessibility. The associate publisher will contribute to the development of policies and practices that increase the quality and effectiveness of Clearinghouse journals, contribute to the development of new journals, review and manage publishing agreements, and work with the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Advancement to increase awareness of new and existing journals. The associate publisher will serve as a member of the operational leadership team within the WAC Clearinghouse. The associate publisher will also serve as a member of the Clearinghouse Editorial Board.

Director of Marketing, Communications, and Advancement

The director of marketing, communication, and advancement is responsible for (1) increasing awareness of the scholarly publications and instructional and professional resources available through the WAC Clearinghouse; (2) seeking monetary support from past and potential contributors to the Clearinghouse; (3) identifying and reaching out to potential sponsors of the Clearinghouse; and (4) working with journal editors and book series editors to submit nominations for awards and other recognitions. The director works with the publisher, associate publisher, series editors, and journal editors to accomplish these goals. The director will serve as a member of the operational leadership team within the WAC Clearinghouse. The director will also serve as a member of the Clearinghouse Editorial Board.
