New Podcast Series Highlights International Perspectives on Writing Studies

  • Jan 28, 2025

The Clearinghouse is pleased to announce that the podcast Beyond Conventions: Global Dialogues on Writing Studies is now available for listening. Hosted by Anna Habib and Esther Namubiru, the podcast brings together transnational scholars to provide cross-cultural understandings about writing, writing praxis, publishing, and research while interrogating assumptions from the US and North America.

The first season of the podcast engages in discussion with the editors and writers of the International Exchanges on the Study of Writing Book Series, with the first episode featuring the editors and co-founders of the series: Terry Zawacki, Steven Fraiberg, Joan Mullin, and Magnus Gustafsson.

Habib and Namubiru note that the podcast series is designed to "bring together writing studies scholars and researchers from around the world who are engaging in transnational scholarly or programmatic work. Through conversations with them, we want to explore the global landscape of writing, challenge long held Western-centric assumptions in writing studies praxis, and cultivate cross-cultural understanding and collaboration in writing research, publishing, and pedagogy beyond the Global North contexts."

You can listen and subscribe to the podcast on Spotify. You can also find podcasts related to WAC and writing studies on our podcasts list in the WAC Repository.
