Beyond Conventions Podcast Releases New Episode

  • Feb 11, 2025

The podcast Beyond Conventions: Global Dialogues on Writing Studies has released its second episode. Hosted by Anna Habib and Esther Namubiru, the podcast brings together transnational scholars to provide cross-cultural understandings about writing, writing praxis, publishing, and research while interrogating assumptions from the US and North America.

In this episode, the hosts speak with the former and current editors of the Latin America Section of the International Exchanges on the Study of Writing book series: Federico Navarro, Soledad Montes Sanchez, and Ana Cortés Lagos. The Latin American section publishes peer-reviewed works on writing, teaching, and scholarly practices from the Latin American region and Latin American perspectives. The series highlights the region's thriving scholarship and fosters global exchanges through open-access books. THe hosts ask the editors the series to share with us the origins, goal, and vision for this section of the IE book series, the research trends coming out of Latin America, and how this book series pushes us to think beyond the conventions of Global North publishing traditions and systems.
