Claudine,
You really seem to be on to something when you suggest that
college teachers may serve the function of helping provide
the transition between one type of education and the next.
To ignore the difficulties inherent in such a big life change
while planning a class, would be ludicrous indeed. Perhaps that
sensitivity to the "newness" of college also helps the teacher
avoid the "screaming red pen" that you've discussed in earlier
posts.
