First, in the spirit of fun, I will nominate epistemic and epistemology.

Now, I will agree somewhat with Julie, in defense of these words (somewhat).
In my first comp theory course I had to look these words up every time I came
across them. I think this was, in part, because different writers used them
in widely varying contexts. Consequently, every time I hear these words now
I have to stop and think, now what does that word mean? Is that a good thing
or a bad thing? Frequently I miss the next part of the argument while I'm
flashing back to my epistemological memories.
