Amen! Amen! The function of conferences is changing indeed. And I go to
see my friends and colleagues too. Yes, sessions are important, not least
as ways to introduce ourselves and our ideas to each other. But for me,
the richest experiences and epiphanies have happened when I was sipping
tea or eating ice cream or walking with people I never get to see
otherwise but whose ideas and experience are a mother lode. It is in
these moments that those discussions occur that we wish would happen at
the end of more sessions.
