Ed...you bring into the discussion an important point to remember. When I
replied to Stephen's discussion of beauty, I wanted to stress that
hegemony is not usually associated with beauty (though I kind of agree
with you about how it sounds :). Maybe it's just a dis/comfort level that
some do not want to cross into at conferences. Hard to say. I don't want
to ascribe motives where I have no reliable information. But, if Stephen
says he wants to be entertained at conferences and in the
classroom...that's kewl! :) Each to his/her own.
