I think Beth's suggestion that we collect narratives of how people write
and then analyze them for patterns sounds utterly fascinating. I'm
thinking this would be a great workshop idea -- people could write their
narratives, then work in small groups to read each others', then make a
short presentation to the group about the patterns they saw in the
narratives they read. Then the whole thing could be opened up to a
discussion of the implications of what they'd found.

I wouldn't worry too much about the presenters drawing conclusions, or
having to present conclusions. I think it's often useful in just the
right measure for people to reexamine their own practice in just the
ways Beth proposes; conclusions and decisions about possible changes are
usually best left to the individual.

I'd _love_ to be part of this kind of presentation at a conference
somewhere.
