Alice,
When people ask me how I'm doing on my dissertation, I often say (when
I'm done giggling insanely, "Dissertation?" I say, "Hahahahahaha!
Heeheheeeheeehehehehe! Er, uh?"): I'm going to compile every note I've
ever posted to a list, print the whole mess and turn it in.

I'm not really joking, though i think people think I am. Just haven't
gotten around to doing it yet ;)

How valuable are your email conversations? I mean, if your exploratory
writing manages to help you learn where you want to go with your ideas,
it probably includes nicely articulated versions of those ideas. I figure
those texts don't need to be translated into print-based forms in order
to have value. Their native forms are valuable, too.

Have you ever thought of adding excerpts from your electronic
correspondence as an appendix to your diss?
