Well, this assumes that what's *not* said is meaningless! If what's
written and what's not written are both meaningful, then there is no
potentiality, there is only the actuality of the evidence before us
(which includes what a person does not say/write as well as what they do).
It is possible to see writing as completely revealing of both the
desire to reveal (however well realized) and the desire to conceal
(however well realized). I read Paul's post as saying that most listserv
writing reveals a desire to conceal ethos (perhaps not well realized!) :)
