I guess I was in too much of a hurry since so much time had passed since
Nick Carbone's original message and should read through my post before I
sent it. Anyway aside from a couple of obvious mistakes I noticed I really
messed up the semantics of an imporant sentence by dropping the 'not'.
Mistakes what I inadvertantl wrote for my actual position on the
relationship between theory and practice.

In the 6th paragraph I wrote:

> Nevertheless, I obvious do believe there is a place for theoretically >
self-conscious research and that theory is somehow detached from a 'real
world > out there'.

I should have written:

Nevertheless, I obvious do believe there is a place for theoretically self-
conscious research and that theory is *not* somehow detached from a 'real
world out there'.
