I believe they will co-exist. One advantage of an electronic medium is that you can select what you want to "hard copy" and what you don't. Many trees will be saved as a result. I'm sure that not every article in a journal is of interest to everyone.

Regarding the question of publishing, as long as a journal is a "peer review" journal, it does not matter if it is electronic or hard copy. Simply by developing a home page and placing some work of yours in that page does not constitute (or should not) a published work - at least not for tenure decisions. KTF
