PEER REVIEW and THE INTERNET
Scientists attending a conference in Denmark sponsored by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) were almost unanimous in dismissing electronic challenges to the tradition of peer review for scientific publications, although there was also wide agreement about the benefits of the Internet for the exchange of scientific information (through the speeding up of peer review and the developing use of the Internet for distribution of "preprints" that allow "open peer commentary").
