In response to what is above the first Response! This answer so far is skirting the definition in a way that confuses me. I think that several times you define it and then you end up by saying that you almost always mean WWW when you say hypertext. Since I disagree with you on that one tiny point, everything else you said seems less significant due to my disappointment. Your enumerated definition rules! I may not be representative of the audience of this answer so the way you put may be sound but I feel like you undid a good answer at the end. You know your rhetorical situation much better than I do and it is not hard to imagine that this answer would work for the right audience. BTW, I could use a reference to this answer's definition of hypertext and hypermedia in papers I am currently writing for two different courses. How would I cite it? and how long will these pages be up? I know the answer to the first question but not the second. Eric? Brice
