But Eric, if we didn't have schools, what would we _do_ with kids all
day? (I trust you know me well enough to know that I'm utterly serious
in asking; day care is a primary function of school and is getting more
and more important as we shift over to a workforce that includes more and
more two-career [two-_job_] couples and single-parent families.)
