I don't think your general freshperson is headed for the status of any
particular theorist. Most freshpersons are headed for some kind of
social/civic life in the "real world" however where they will be
called upon to interact in relationship with others -- others,
including the grads of higher ed, who rarely use essaying/

I appreciate your thoughts on this issue and your sharing them in
*this* dialogue.

Just because "they" may not be headed toward being a theorist - does
that mean they couldn't? As educators, shouldn't we be concerned with
what might be? The vision thing? How might what they end up being be
different, if our expectations were different?
