One thing that disturbs me a bit about the skepticism this fun little
rhetorical circus idea seems to be attracting: There's this embedded
assumption that some sort of parental authority must be present in order
for us to be safe and secure.

What makes you all think we can't build something new ourselves? Doesn't
have to be a circus. That's just the metaphor I happen to like. What makes
you all so damn sure that institutionalism is more eternal than rhetoric
and learning?

Have you so little faith in yourselves and your society that you believe
alternatives are either impossible or futile? Is this a god thing?
