So, because universities are downsizing, treating their professionals like
commodities, sacrificing quality for efficiency, and refusing to guarantee
lifetime job security, we should all go out into the *corporate* world?
Don't get me wrong--I'm not in love with the university system, and I
complain about it to anyone who will listen. But do we really think that
the corporate world is better? Or that free-lancing for corporations would
be more fulfilling?
