Detailed Description: At Texas A&M undergraduates complete two writing-intensive courses in their majors as well as taking core courses in writing and communication. The W Course Advisory Committee, with members from all university colleges and the library system, reviews courses for writing-intensive status. Courses must be reviewed every four years. Approved courses currently number about 160. The UWC offers a wide variety of support for student writers at the graduate and undergraduate level including an OWL with IM, handouts, and a writing webliography. The UWC also provides face-to-face consulting services. Faculty support includes workshops, symposia, a web site with a blog and podcasts, and a newsletter. The UWC houses a writing fellows program to assist faculty teaching writing in the disciplines. All writing fellows and writing consultants, including graduate and undergraduate students and professional staff, are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. We are currently developing a series of student-oriented podcasts on writing.
