The Outcomes Statement participants have been working together officially since a forum session at The Conference on College Composition and Communication in March, 1997. Since that time, a variety of sessions at several major conferences refined and sustained a continuing effort to produce a document suitable for adoption by major national organizations in Composition. The participants eventually selected a Steering Committee to manage the effort. The Council of Writing Program Administrators adopted the statement at its April, 2000 meeting. The most current version can be found in Volume 23, Number 1/2 (fall/winter 1999) of Writing Program Administration and on the Council's web pages.
