You can adjust the settings for the chart, choosing the axes from the left-hand dropdown menu, which right now shows Reference per 1000 words, and the horizontal dropdown menu, the axis shows there percentage of articles. Several words here are preselected to demonstrate the chart: computer, craft, design, and several others. Note that trails is turned off. And when you click on the gray playhead, what you'll see here is a year by year indication of the rising and falling relative frequencies of these terms as they appear in the journal College Composition and Communication. As the animation advances, bubbles change positions, rising and falling to show how dynamic are selected of the field's terms over twenty-five years.
