I think it's worth taking a moment to say OM, or observe silence, or
whatever to this statement! The intensity of this discussion in part says
to me that we are, many of us, ambivalent about the use of specialized
language. Beth's initial response touched a nerve, so to speak, that is I
think connected to the "less than pleasant experiences we've perhaps all
had with Theory and specialized languages?
I also think "the politics of language and (whatever remains of) public
space" -- an issue which Beth raised -- would be an interesting issue for
_Space and Culture_ to get into.
